Urnes stave church is both the oldest and the most richly decorated of the 28 stave churches preserved in Norway.
Urnes can be reached by ferry or taxi boat from Solvorn, about 6 km from Eikum Hotel. Urnes Stave Church is one of the most important cultural monuments in Norway and is on UNESCO's list of cultural monuments worthy of special protection. The north portal is particularly significant.
The season in 2023 is May 2 to September 30. The church is open every day from 10:30 to 17:45.
